Sheila Cayolle, a native of New Orleans, is an author, poet, illustrator and owner of Pontchartrain Publishing Co. She received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Xavier University and earned a Master’s degree in Education Administration from the University of New Orleans. She enjoyed a long teaching career and was twice named one of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.
Sheila’s first poem, “Summer Rain,” became the inspiration for Pontchartrain Publishing’s first award-winning children’s book, Morning Rain. Her book, A Celebration of Poetry, also became an award-winner. It not only contains a collection of her personal poems, but also a guide to understanding the basics of poetry.
Pontchartrain Publishing Co. was founded in 2008 for the purpose of providing gentle bedtime reading for children of ages 4 to 8. Since then it has expanded its works to include readers of all ages.
The company gets its name from Sheila’s memories of splendid times with family and friends on Lake Pontchartrain in New Orleans, LA. The shoreline at Lake Pontchartrain has always been the gathering place for people to fish, sail, walk, jog, bicycle, party, and to simply watch the sun set. It is from those wonderful childhood memories that Pontchartrain Publishing Co. was born.
In 2013, she re-ignited her passion for art with her paintings and is currently working on painting the illustrations for her future books.
Sheila currently lives in Alpharetta, GA.
